Following the merger between Hoyer and VMS Group, the new company will now present its expanded maritime offering for the first time at SMM 2026.

The maritime industry is undergoing significant change. Shipowners and operators are under increasing pressure to improve efficiency, reduce operational complexity, and ensure reliable vessel performance while navigating new technological and regulatory demands. At SMM 2026, Hoyer VMS Group will showcase how its expanded maritime offerings creates opportunities for exactly those challenges.

The merger between Hoyer and VMS Group combines two complementary areas of expertise: VMS Group’s strong capabilities within marine engines, propulsion systems, overhaul, and lifecycle services, with Hoyer’s specialist knowledge in electric motors, drives, automation, and energy optimisation.

Less complexity and reduced downtime

For shipowners, the value lies not only in access to a broader portfolio of solutions, but in the ability to work with one partner across multiple technical areas.

“When customers operate complex vessels, many challenges are interconnected, and there is no doubt that bringing together Hoyer and VMS Group enables us to solve more tasks. Naturally, it is a major advantage that our skilled employees can both carry out work on the vessel’s electric motors and maintain or repair marine engines,” says Ketil Vesterlund, CCO Hoyer VMS Group.

First joint presentation at SMM

The first time Hoyer VMS Group will present itself with this expanded maritime offering in Europe will be at SMM in Hamburg.

Here, the company will focus on how shipowners can optimise collaboration with one single supplier, how service and maintenance tasks can be consolidated, and how the right combination of mechanical and electrical expertise can contribute to higher operational reliability and more stable vessel operations.

Visitors to SMM can meet Hoyer VMS Group at stand B1.EG.406.
